PROGRAMS

If you are a parent, teacher, organization or school and would like to bring our programs to your group or school please contact us for more information.

Operation Comic Book is our program for middle schools. The program can be adjusted for elementary and high schools levels.

  1. First, we distribute a comic books to all the students. For some schools this might be an entire grade or it could be the entire school or school district.
  2. Next, we distribute module one for all the students to complete. This module introduces the concept of comic books to the student and shows them that they do indeed have the powers to create their own comic book. In module 2, the students jump into character development and the elements of storytelling. Next, they become artists sketching their own thumbnails and storyboard! Finally, the students learn about inking as they transfer their work onto the final paper and color.
  3. In the last phase of Operation Comic Book, we encourage the school to host a "Comic Book Fun Day" or "Super Hero day"  or start a after-school ECBI Comic Book Club for your students.

Our Comic Book Workshops are offered to youth organizations, home-school groups, libraries and churches. Some schools choose this option and offer our program as an after-school activity. The workshops span 6 to 10 hours depending upon the host organization’s requirements. We provide all the materials needed for students to complete their own comic book. Each student receives a printed copy of their original work.

Workshops can be developed for a varied of grade levels, groups and organizations. We also offer themed based workshops that can provide students with an opportunity to highlight social issues that they may face such as bullying, racism, drunken driving etc. For churches and youth groups we offer faith based comic books workshops. Workshops can also be fun themes such as Zombies, American Girl, Superheroes, Manga Etc.

Some examples include:

  • For Vacation Bible School we offer a Faith Based workshop to allow students to create a comic book based on their program’s theme.
  • For Girl and Boy Scouts we provide an opportunity for participants to meet some of their activity requirements.
  • Our other program is It’s a Girls’ Story, created for organizations that serve pre-teen and teen girls. The workshop is tasked with giving young girls a chance to put themselves into the story.
  • The student created comic books can be used as a fundraiser for organizations.
